Thank You Star Jones. . .

For showing us how to take the high road when cattiness rules. I've had it with Barbara Walters and I think she's finally shown us her true colors. After watching Star on Larry King last night I have been so impressed with how she has been handling Barbara and the media powerhouse that is ABC. Refusing to attack, taking the high road and having the guts to set the record straight, no matter what anyone else thinks Star is coming out on top and Barbara has egg on her face.

To hear the manipulation that this women went through, telling her that she is being let go but that she can make up a story as cover, leaking stories about her, a countdown till when she leaves, it's just disgusting! But what bothers me the most is that when she made her announcement, under the auspicious that she would say a final goodbye in July, Barbara held her hand, raved about her, then the very next day she made a cruel speech about Star! The audacity of women sickens me sometimes--how ugly can you get? But I've had it with Barbara once and for all! It's strikes me that when the show is a sucess it's "Barbara's show" but when this happens it's "the executives at ABC" making the decisions! How transparent can you be?

KING: Why didn't you sit down with her and say, Barbara, what is this with Rosie? And why, when you knew I had been attacked, did you go with Rosie to the Emmys? REYNOLDS: I did. KING: And what did she say? REYNOLDS: This was a business decision and wrap yourself around it, Star. KING: That's what she said? REYNOLDS: Yes. I was sitting in an office, and I was very clearly told, Rosie is coming, wrap yourself around it. And I thought to myself, wow. After nine years, I would have thought that at least I would have gotten, I'm sorry that someone was so hurtful to you, but we're going to move in another direction. Because that's respectful. What I hate about this more than anything, and may I share it, is this is the worst example of what people say about women. I will not be in a cat fight. It's not who I am. It's not who I want to be. It's not who I was raised to be. Women professionals need to perform as women professionals, and I have sat across from the greatest female journalist of our times. KING: Barbara Walters. REYNOLDS: And I have learned from that woman. She's my mentor. I have learned as much about television from her as I learned about the law from my friend, the late Johnnie Cochran. And I've got to tell you, I will not, no matter what anybody does or tries to bait me to do, I will not denigrate Ms. Walters, ever. That's not who I am.

Now how classy is that! Way to go Star--your my newest female hero!

your telling me she is not catty? she is trying to take the high road to not ruin her reputation further. both sides are guilty i am sure. the whole show is a joke. a bunch of women with all different opinions all trying to all talk at the same time. trust me i am no big fan of barbara walters either, but this whole thing is one big cat fight, and as a woman i am embarresed.

Yeah, I have to agree with "anonymous" that I'm not sure who exactly is taking the high road here, or if there even is one. In any circumstance like this it always seems that no one in the public sees or hears the whole truth of the matter, and I'm sure it's terribly hard to be a celebrity and to be guarded in what you say about others and yet still defend yourself (for either Star or Barbara). If you take the real high road and say absolutely nothing, you're painted in a bad light because then the media can run with ANY story and make you look bad...especially if the other party IS saying stuff... but it honestly annoyed me that both Star and Barbara said ANYthing about the other--I think both of them could have handled it better. I was surprised that Star is leaving, but she always annoyed me anyway. :) NOT that I'm going to watch anymore with Rosie on there...she bothers me even more... So, regardless, it's goodbye to "The View" for me and hello "Today" show... by the way, does Meredith Vierra really look that different from Katie Couric?? :) I saw a picture of her with Matt Lauer, and just give her a similar haircut, and it's Katie... interesting.
